Brooks talks Bryson

On a conference call ahead of this Tuesday’s ‘Showdown’ at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, Brooks Koepka was asked about his previous, frosty relationship with Bryson DeChambeau. The 5-time major champion had a lot to say on the subject and called the fellow LIV Golfer “severely misunderstood” and that “the world is actually starting to see who Bryson really is.”

This week’s Showdown is on Tuesday, December 17th. Coverage begins at 3 PM local time / 6 PM ET on TNT.

In case you missed it, Bryson DeChambeau announced a long term partnership with Reebok. Yes, you heard that right. The LIV star will wear Reebok from head to toe, as will his Crushers team mates for the foreseeable future after inking a deal with the brand.

Rory McIlroy also revealed this week that he had to have several discussions with the PGA TOUR before they granted him (and Scottie) media releases to play this week’s Showdown event vs Bryson & Brooks.

Tiger Woods Returns

Tiger Woods has announced that he will be returning to action this week. He will play this weekend’s PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Orlando, FL alongside his son Charlie. Woods tiptoed around the topic when he was in the broadcast booth at the Hero World Challenge, but it was clear that an appearance was very possible.

We’ve also gotten our first look at Tiger’s swing since he underwent back surgery in September. He visited the SoFi Center on Friday, home of the TGL Golf League. Have a look at the swing below. Looks like he’s business as usual.

TGL Tidbits

Last week, we learned new information about the TGL Simulator League, which kicks off in January on ESPN. The broadcast team will feature Scott Van Pelt (remote), Marty Smith and Matt Barrie. We also learned about additional staff including the in venue host, referee, rules official, digital correspondents and more. Have a look:

The Skins Game Returns

The PGA TOUR has announced that they are brining back the Skins Game for the first time since 2008. It will be produced by PRO SHOP Studios, which was founded by Chad Mumm (creator of Netflix’s Full Swing) and happen on Black Friday in 2025 with more details TBD. The event is part of a broader effort to appeal to the game’s younger generation of viewers, while bringing back an old classic. Skins Games were popular over a 25 year stretch and began in the 80’s. Several of golf’s legends played in the events including Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.

Ryder Cup Captains Write Letter

According to Sports Illustrated, a dozen former U.S. Ryder Cup captains wrote a letter addressed to the PGA of America, voicing their opposition to a plan that would see U.S Ryder Cup participants receive $400K paycheques. While the former captains were supportive of the idea if the money were to go to charity, they say that players receiving financial compensation would ruin the original meaning of the event.
