Nick Taylor Gets Win #5

Canadian Nick Taylor capped off his week in style, winning the Sony Open in a playoff over Nico Echavarria. The win marks the 5th on the PGA TOUR for Taylor who finished -16 for the week.

TGL Reviews Are In!

The reviews are in for week 1 of Tiger & Rory’s TGL Golf league. After much anticipation, the action got underway last week. Overall, the league was fairly well received online on opening night, despite The Bay Golf Club beating New York Golf Club by a wide margin. Over 70% of the nearly 24,000 respondents in our poll told us that they felt the product was either “Amazing” or “Ok.” For Night 1, this is likely a good sign for TGL. Several commenters added that they felt it went much better than they had been anticipating and ESPN reported 1.2M viewers for the opening night telecast.

Now the attention shifts to Tiger Woods TGL debut. This week he will tee it up for the Jupiter Links GC alongside Max Homa and Kevin Kisner. They will take on LAGC’s Morikawa, Rose and Theegala.

Tom McKibbin Heading to LIV

World #110 Tom McKibbin is reportedly leaving the DP World TOUR and will receive a $5M USD signing bonus to join LIV GOLF, according to The Telegraph. The 22-year old from Northern Ireland had recently earned his PGA TOUR card and has a close relationship with Rory McIlroy.

The news comes as LIV Golf’s Kevin Na called for the league’s tournament winners and top 16 season finishers to receive exemptions into all four major championships.

PUMA files lawsuit vs. Sun Day Red

PUMA says the Sun Day Red brand mark is too similar to their own and is concerned that consumers could get confused between the two variations of cat logos. TaylorMade responded to the claims, telling CNBC saying they feel “very confident in our trademarks and logos.”

California Wildfires Near Riviera CC

The PGA TOUR is weighing its options and determining whether Tiger Woods’ event at Riviera CC will be able to be played next month.

In a memo to membership, they said: “At this point, it is premature to discuss the potential impact on the Genesis Invitational. Although the Riviera Country Club has not been directly affected by the fires, our immediate concern is the health and welfare of those in the affected communities, including all our members who have ties to Southern California.”

The video below shows just how close the fire got to the course as homes in the surrounding community have been destroyed.

Augusta Grants Exemptions

Augusta National Golf Club has handed out two exemptions for the 2025 Masters Tournament, with both Nicolai Hojgaard and Joaquin Niemann receiving the invites to play the tournament this year. While Niemann plays on LIV, he has consistently tried to maintain his OWGR ranking, teeing it up in a number of events all over the world on a range of pro tours. He also received special exemption to last year’s tournament as well.

Adam Scott provides update on negotiations

PGA TOUR player director Adam Scott provided an update on the TOUR’s state of negotiations with the PIF, telling the Associated Press that everything hinges on the Department of Justice.
