Hideki Makes History

Hideki Matsuyma made history Sunday at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. Finishing at -35 par for the week, Matsuyama shot the lowest 72-hole score in the history of the TOUR, with three rounds of -8, 65 and one round of 62 (-11 par). It was Matsuyama’s 11th career win on TOUR.

TGL Golf League Kicks Off

Tiger & Rory’s virtual golf league finally arrives this week after being delayed for a year. The action kicks off tomorrow night at 9PM ET from the 2000 seat SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Live coverage will be on ESPN all season long. This week’s match up will feature the New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club. It will be interesting to see how the product turns out and how it will be received by golf fans.

PGA TOUR Considering TOUR Championship Format Change

A new report this week from The Athletic’s Gabby Herzig indicated that the PGA TOUR is having ‘advanced discussions’ about a change to the season ending TOUR Championship. In recent year’s the season finale has been subject to a myriad of criticism, including from Scottie Scheffler.

Among the plans being considered is a match play, bracket style event, which has been missing from the TOUR’s schedule since the elimination of the WGC events.

Homa Makes Major Changes

Max Homa has made significant changes to his apparel and equipment. The longtime Titleist / FootJoy ambassador has made a move to Lululemon for clothing, joining Min Woo Lee on their TOUR staff, and a switch to Cobra for his equipment. He will also wear PUMA shoes.

Home explained that his wife is a big Lululemon fan.

Thomas Believes in BIG Season

After struggling a bit over the past few seasons, Justin Thomas believes that he can have a “year like Scottie just had.” While not everyone agrees, Thomas has no shortage of self belief which you certainly need to have as a professional athlete competing at the highest level.
