Thomas Detry Picks Up First Win

Thomas Detry won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Sunday, clearing the field by 7 shots to pick up his first win on the PGA TOUR. It was a joyous moment on 18 green when he was greeted by his kids to celebrate at TPC Scottsdale.

At LIV Golf Riyadh, which was played under the lights in Saudi Arabia - Adrian Meronk claimed victory with a 2 stroke victory over Jon Rahm. The season debut reportedly attracted 12,000 viewers for Thursday’s opening round on Fox Sports during the 10 AM to 3 PM broadcast window.

On the DP World Tour, Haotong Li returned to the winner’s circle at the Qatar Masters, collecting his first win since 2022. It’s Li’s 4th career DPWT victory.

Woods Returns to Action

Tiger Woods is back! The 15-time major champion will make his 2025 debut at the Genesis Invitational this week. The event, which is normally played at Riviera has been re-located to Torrey Pines as a result of the wildfires. The tournament host has reportedly been ramping up practice down in South Florida ahead of this week’s event.

It will be an emotional week for Tiger, who announced just last week that his mother, Kultida, passed away.

PGA TOUR Closer to Deal with PIF?

In a statement released last week, the PGA TOUR says they are closer to a deal to unify professional golf after a meeting with President Trump. The TOUR says that Jay Monahan and Adam Scott went to the White House last week to have discussions with the President about the deal. Later in the week, Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee says a round with Trump last year made him realize that Yasir Al-Rumayyan should be viewed as a “partner in the game golf”, a sudden change of direction for Chamblee.

Speaking of Trump, Tiger tee’d it up with the President on Sunday, alongside his son Charlie. Reports from the White House press pool indicated the round was happening and an on-site video confirmed it.

LIV Golfers Get Major Pathways

LIV golfers will soon gain access to two of golf’s major championships based on their performance on their tour. First, the USGA announced that they would be adding a spot in the U.S. Open for the top performing LIV golfer. The R&A announced a similar move last week as well.
