Less Rory McIlroy next year?

Rory McIlroy says he will make some significant cuts to his schedule next year. McIlroy told The Daily Telegraph that he could trim four tournaments from his calendar for the 2025 season, including the Cognizant Classic, Valero Texas Open, RBC Heritage and the FedEx Cup playoffs opener.

“Well, at this point in my career… Hey, I’m 35 and have been out here for 17, 18 years, so I’m just going to go to the places that I enjoy and where I play well. Look I’ve done the hard slog, I’ve done that sort of 25 to 30 events a year. And I’m not getting any younger.”

A LIV - PGA TOUR deal in 15 minutes? 🤝

Just before the election results came in last Tuesday, U.S. President Elect Donald Trump joined the Let’s Go Podcast with Bill Belichick to discuss a number of topics including the ongoing negotiations between the PGA TOUR & LIV Golf. Not only does Trump believe that a deal will get done, but he also thinks it could be completed in “about 15 minutes.” The incoming President does have a solid relationship with the Saudi government, which could be beneficial in getting a deal across the line and through the U.S. DOJ.

Rory McIlroy was also asked about the comments in advance of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and he said that the Trump Presidency could “clear the way” for a deal to finally see the light. McIlroy also suggested that Elon Musk could get involved in making a deal, calling the Tesla founder “the smartest guy in the world.”

Augusta National’s Newest Memeber 🏈

The newest class of members at Augusta National has just been announced. Joining the elite, invite-only membership is Eli Manning. The former Giants star joins his brother Peyton as members of the famed club. Sports Business Journal also reported that the former chairman of CBS Sports, Sean McManus has joined too.

Sergio says he’s not done with Ryder Cups

Ryder Cup Europe legend Sergio Garcia says he’s not done trying to play on the Ryder Cup team and is hoping to compete at “two or three more.”

In an exclusive interview with Golf Monthly, Garcia was asked about the prospects of it: "I definitely hope so”, Garcia said. “I hope that things get better and I would love to. I’ve had talks with the European Tour and I still want to support the European Tour, so hopefully we all come to an agreement and that can be restored.”

"I feel like my game’s still good enough to play at least two or three Ryder Cups, so if I can keep that level going, hopefully everything gets sorted and we can get to that point."

Day Reveals why he never left the PGA TOUR

Jason Day has revealed why he didn’t make the move for LIV Golf. The Australian told CODE Sports that he explored a deal with the league, but LIV bosses were concerned that he was “too injured.”

“I didn’t knock it back. What happened was, it was a business move to just go in and explore the potential of what would happen. I said to my agent, ‘No worries, I’m happy with where I’m at, but it’s always nice to know.’ And they said, ‘We love Jason, but he’s too injured; he just gets too many injuries.’ “I don’t blame them”, Day said. “I’m so thankful and so happy that I stayed on the PGA Tour… I just feel that the tour was a perfect spot for me.”
